Who’s Going
April 30th, 2005 by Stephanie @ 2:13 pmWhen I’m planning an event or anyone else is, the first question (maybe after when and where) is who’s going? I find this rather annoying for many reasons. Most of the time you’re in the process of asking people, so you don’t know since you might have just started asking people. So if you tell the first person you ask “nobody yet” then they feel disinclined to say yes, but then you’ll still have no people, even though they should feel special that you asked them first. The dilemma continues. Another thing, it is insulting to the asker, because the askee is saying oh, just you is not good enough for them.
For those of you who ask because you will only go if certain other people are going, I think that’s a bit foolish too. If you really want to go, that doesn’t really matter as much, as long as you’re not going alone, which is assumed if someone is asking you. If you’ll only go if a particular other person(s) are going, then you really don’t want to go, so don’t and just say no. “No”’s are a lot easier to deal with than maybe’s. I think it’s better to have fewer people who are excited about whatever activity it is than to have a massive amount of people who are only engaging in that activity because their friends are there.
